2/1 is generative ambient music offered as a fundraiser for Black Lives Matter Los Angeles. Proceeds will be directed to BLM LA's gofundme:
www.gofundme.com/f/blmla.
Based on an early Brian Eno piece of the same name, 2/1 is comprised of seven different loops, each containing a single note. Because the length of each loop is different, new harmonic and spatial relationships reveal themselves as the piece unfolds. The input is simple, but the outcome is more complex.
This rendering of the experiment was made without reference to the original. Although the key center has changed, the results are not dissimilar from the version Eno released on Music For Airports, with one significant exception: where Eno’s 2/1 was less than 10 minutes in length, this version allows the process to run for an hour.
I hope that listeners will finds the music as functional and therapeutic as I have, but most importantly, I hope to raise some serious moola for BLM LA. I will reach out to those who donate $20 or more and share two alternate versions of the piece utilizing different source audio.
